Where is the backup.backupdb folder in Time Machine on M1 macbook running monterey?

Where is the backup.backupdb folder in Time Machine on M1 macbook running monterey? I have used many macs and time machine always had a backup.backupdb folder. Now, when I look at the contents of the time machine drive, they show a series of folder with time machine icons for each backup time.

Is this working correctly? did they change the file system for backups? how would you go about switching your time machine backups to a larger drive?

That's working correctly. That's how it is now. If you need to use a larger external hard drive: Erase and reformat a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac – Apple Support (AU)
