Photo album folder auto sort

my folders in photo albums keep on being rearrange randomly. I keep on rearranging them to have those I use the most at the top / on left but they seem to be randomly rearranged at random time. I cannot see any pattern here. It is really annoying. Can I turn off that function ?

If all else fails give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Hi Kiki2137,

You can see how photos are sorted in the Photos app here: Organize and find your photos on your Mac - Apple Support

You can arrange your albums by dragging them in the sidebar into your preferred order. You can then sort photos within an album using the means outlined below:

Manage your albums

If you want to change the name of an album, Control-click the album, then select Rename Album. Change the name, then press the Return key.
To rearrange your albums, drag an album in the sidebar anywhere you want in the list. To sort the photos in an album, Control-click on the album, then choose a sorting option, like Keep Sorted By Oldest First or Keep Sorted By Newest First.

Cheers!
