apple tv 4k remote loudness-control not working with philips monitor

Hello!

I recently upgraded to an apple-tv 4k with a philips p-line 329p1h monitor.

Everything's fine, except that I can't control the loudness through the apple-remote.

I tried Apple's recommended "remote training program" but this didn't help.

I have not found anything like "HDMI-CEC" (or EasyLink in Philips-lingo).

I'm not sure why the volume isn't controlled at/before the Apple-TV's output?

Luckily, the tv is connected to my old stereo-amplifier, where I have a volume-control-knob. But using the remote would be nice.

Is there anything I haven't seen?

Thank you!

The remote sends it volume control signals directly to the TV (when using TV speakers) or to the audio system (your old amplifier), if those have an IR receptor. If the amp only has a manual volume knob, then the remote can’t turn that.

But I'd had thought the volume went through the HDMI-wire

That is supported, but only for select kinda-advanced receivers that support volume control over HDMI-CEC.

Not for TVs, not for receivers (amps) connected via RCA or optical or coax. Not all receivers with CEC support will include support for volume control over CEC.
