change backup location

I get error message that says a file can't be create as it already exists.

Windows 11, using itunes from Microsoft store.

I want to move location from c drive to dm drive

MkLink /J “C:\Users\UserName\Apple\MobileSync\Backup” “m:\MobileSync\Backup”.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

How do I change the backup location on a Windows 10 PC. By default iTunes backups go to my C:\ drive filling it up needlessly. I would like to backup to another internal harddrive. Is there a way to change the defaul location for iTunes backup on a Windows 10 PC? iTunes is backing up to my C:\ drive and filling it up needlessly. I would like it to backup to an alternate internal harddrive insteat. Using the MkLink command to create a symbolic link to a different directory and file only results in the creation of a mirror of the backup file to the new location. Any other ideas that can accomplish this task?

MkLink /J redirect not working with iTunes Backup W'11 w/ iTunes. Object is to backup iTunes to an external HD. I have successfully created a link using "MkLInk /J". iTunes gives a error: "iTunes could not back up the iPad (device name) because an error occurred. If I place a file in the Redirect folder it does show up in the target folder. Also, my MobileSync folder is in a different path than what is given in the instructions. It is: "%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Packages\AppleInc.iTunes_nzyj5cx40ttqa\LocalCache\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync" Any help would be appreciated.

My guess would be that the folder C:\Users\UserName\Apple\MobileSync\Backup exists when it shouldn't before you issue the MkLink command. See Relocate iOS device backups. Review the rest of the Make a split library portable user tip for advice on organizing the library on external storage.
