Status of Erase request on Apple Watch

I mailed in my old apple watch after upgrading to a new one for the rebate benefit. However, I forgot to erase the watch before mailing and a few weeks later Apple sent me an e-mail advising that I need to erase the watch and remove it from my account. I completed the erase request but it's still pending. States it will be erased once it's connected to the internet. Can I remove the watch from my icloud account before it's erased? Thank you!
