Removed my iPhone under people in find my app as kept showing location not found

Removed my iPhone under “People” in find my app, as kept showing location not found. I thought by removing it, my iPhone 11, I could add it back to fix the problem. However, no matter what I do my iPhone cannot be re-added under “People” even though I follow all the steps. Anyone know what I am missing here? Everything turned on under settings in Find My, in iCloud and under private/locations.

I will upload some screenshots from my wife’s iPad and my iPhone. My iPhone under People shows up on my wife’s iPad and her iPhone, but only my wife shows up on my iPad and iPhone. The options – Devices, Items(AirTags) and “Me“ all work as expected; but, not under People, only my wife shows up as part of family and with whom I share locations. If I select +, Under People, hoping to re-add my iPhone, you get the options to “share my location”, add AirTag or “add other item”, none of which allow me to re-add my iPhone under People. From the screenshots you can see my wife’s iPad shows both of us under People, but again, cannot find my iPhone 11, although it shows up fine under Devices. The next screenshot from my iPhone 11 under People only my wife shows up, and selecting the + there are three options, which do not allow me to re-add my iPhone.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Best, Seth

I finally figured out how to fix it and re-add my iPhone 11. Under people under find my app, selected the + and share my location. However, must enter the iPhone 11‘s phone number, not email address or Apple ID. Then it took me to a dialog box that said unable to share as share this iPhone 11 was disabled, giving the option of OK or settings. This time I selected settings, and took me to a long list of options which you could turn off or on, like the long list under analytics, which made no sense. I’ve been there a few times before but didn’t notice that one item was not on, share this iPhone 11. I turned it on and viola everything started working on both my wife’s devices and my devices.

later trying to find the locations of where this was disabled, I cannot find it, so wondering why or how it became disabled. It’s a location that’s never described anywhere. If anyone knows where this long list of settings is located please let me know. I found the solution to the problem by asking the right question, and took me to Apple community with a link to add or remove devices under Find My app. I’ll upload a screenshot of this page, link I was sent to. Best, Seth

Finally found where the setting was located. Under system services, under privacy/location/at the bottom you’ll find system services. This will open the page that was referring to with a long list of options that you can turn off and on. 2/3 of the way down was the option to share this iPhone 11. Why it was disabled I have no idea, but turning that somewhat difficult option not mentioned anywhere that I could find, fixed everything. Best, Seth

Hope this helps some folks down the road
