How do I add an HDMI input to a 2020 imac 27" to use as standalone monitor for laptop?

I have an imac Retina 5k 27" 2020 On Monteray

I want to link via HDMI or " project" windows laptop to use iMac as screen?

I have tried BootCamp with windows and use "project" but cannot get this to work.

Really needs to be a dongle, lead or Bluetooth solution as laptop works through secure VPN so cannot use wifi.

Plenty of cast devices that connect via HDMI and Bluetooth but not found any that connect to imac via USB etc?

To add to Mal-S’ point, people think the iMac is simply a Mac with a stand alone monitor attached. It is not. The display is an integral part of the hardware controlled by the firmware. So as has been stated in the link provided your 2020 iMac cannot be used as an external monitor, period.

Target Display Mode was abandoned years ago and your 2020 iMac is too new.
