Poor performance of Macbook Air M1

What is Apple doing to improve the apps available on the M1 which is virtually unusable. Just tried to select BBC iPlayer, something so straightforward for other platforms. It is not only disgraceful it feels like a con. If I can do it on any iphone, ipad or even my ancient iMac why not the macbook air M1. I feel conned. We as a community ought to be making more noise to push Apple into doing something with their billions. If there are any actions currently taking place to do so please let me know.

That's a pretty niave answer, if it were simple then developers would be doing so to keep their users happy. There is something more fundamental that is stopping this from happening and Apple does bear some responsibility for designing in incompatibility into their new platforms. I would suggest that some testing to prove the platform could be used widely with existing applications is not an unreasonable assumption by any apple customer. Apple supposedly pride themselves on the ease of use but in this case they have failed. Effectively I was sold on the reputation of apple and the experience of having the previous macbook air only to find I have been sold a "Betamax" version of the macbook air. It's a backward step and I would not recommend anyone to buy this get a windows platform.
