how to undo delete in Voice Memo on MacBook?

How do I "undo" a voice memo deletion on a MacBook Air?

I have some disability challenges with my working memory. I was using Voice Memo on my

2013 MacBook Air to record my father's directions about a legal issue we are preparing for soon.

I recorded the iPhone conversation with my dad and the MacBook Air recorded it just fine

in the Voice Memo app. The conversation was two minutes, but I forgot to push stop on Voice Memo so

the voice memo was 6 minutes. I then tried to trim and delete the extra unneeded last four minutes

following the directions about the moving the two yellow bars.

However, the entire 6 minute Voice memo was deleted instead of just the last 4 minutes.

In the future, how do I delete just the last part of a recording?

In the "Apple speak" what is the difference between "trim" and delete"?

Hey there teaching with macbook air,

We recommend trying to recover the recording first, then try trimming (editing) the memo once it's been restored. The steps below will help:

In the Voice Memos app  on your Mac, click the Sidebar button  to open the folder sidebar.
Select Recently Deleted, then select the recording you want to recover.
Click the Recover button in the upper-right corner, then click Recover Recording.
To restore all deleted recordings, click Recover All at the bottom of the library.

The steps below will show you how to delete excess audio, also known as trimming the recording:

To delete some excess audio, use Trim.
In the Voice Memos app  on your Mac, select the recording.
Click the Edit button to open the recording in the Edit window, then click the Trim button .
If you have a trackpad or a Magic Mouse, click or tap with two fingers on the recording, then choose Trim Recording.
Drag the yellow trim handles to set the range to trim.
To check your edit, click the Play button  (or use the Touch Bar), then adjust the trim handles if necessary.
