itues library on external

I have my music backed up to an external hard drive that was connected to another computer in the past.

I installed iTunes on my current computer and I want the music on the external HD to be accessible in iTunes. How do I do it? Help, please. Google and YouTube have only frustrated me to death.

I am using Windows 7 with the most updated iTunes available for it.

Thanks in advance

iPad Pro, iPadOS 15

You can use File > Add Folder to Library to import the media into your library. If you have a large collection of media and a relatively small system drive on the new computer you might need to adjust the setting for Copy files... under Edit > Preferences > Advanced so that the files remain on the external drive. Or you could use the shift-start-iTunes method to create a new iTunes library at <External>\iTunes and move/rename the media folder as <External>\iTunes\iTunes Media before you add to the library. See Make a split library portable - Apple Community for background.

Note that you won't be able update or restore your iOS 15 device with the older iTunes running on Windows 7. You might consider upgrading to Windows 10. See https://www.howtogeek.com/509087/how-to-upgrade-from-windows-7-to-windows-10-for-free/ for example.
