How do I put photos inserted in text in a Pages document into a file?

Click on the photo, and from the Format panel, you will see an image tab. Follow the instructions below, and the original image that was dropped into Pages will be made available to the Finder again. Take care to not attempt to overwrite the image, even though the Finder would challenge you with a Replace dialog.

If you "Inserted the photo into a Pages document," it was already a file, and the copy accepted by Pages remains a file contained in a Pages document.


Make a copy of the photo 'file' you used to insert the photo (or use the original file). Drag and drop it into a folder, or into Photos, where it will be avaolable as a fle.
