Installing MacOS 10.6, get splash screen image I don't recognize

Hello there, I'm trying to do a clean install of MacOS 10.6 on a new internal SSD drive. Using my prior HDD startup drive, I can see my new SSD drive and I have formatted it in Mac OS Extended (journaled). I then put in my 'install 10.6' optical disc and it successfully sees the new SSD drive and lets me start an OS install. However, sometime in the process of install, the Mac reboots and then gives me splash screen I have never seen before. I have attached the picture below. It seems like the splash screen is asking me to do something but I can't tell what it is. Does anyone know what this picture means? At this point in the process, the computer just hangs.

System:

MacPro 5.1

Quad Core Intel Xeon

2.8Ghz

8GB Ram

New SSD drive:

Crucial MX500 2000GB

Thanks! Tom

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

@srbwanderer, thank you so much for your help, it solves the problem. The installation is now complete. I totally understand why the computer is asking me that. I've been having trouble with using my keyboard plugged in through a usb extension cable. I think there isn't enough power to send a strong enough usb signal. And the wired mouse is plugged in to the keyboard. When My computer boots up normally, it can't see that the mouse is plugged in and then starts looking for a Bluetooth mouse, which I do not have. It brings up a Bluetooth mouse textbox asking me to plug in wireless mouse. Under normal operation i unplug the mouse and replug it right back in and then it recognizes the wired mouse and I continue. But this situation of a new install reboot threw up this different picture without any text, but for the same reason. So I just plugged mouse and keyboard directly into computer and the install reboot worked fine. Thanks again for your help. Tom

Hello tw9999,

The screen you provided is asking you to turn the power on your Bluetooth Mouse on.

Was there any type of issue with the trackpad on the MacBook Pro? It appears the Mac is not recognizing that the trackpad is there.

If you have a Bluetooth mouse handy, you may want to see if it will connect and allow you to proceed. Information on setting up an Apple mouse is available here: Set up your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad with your Mac - Apple Support

Once you get passed this screen and complete the setup, you can check to see if there is an issue with the trackpad.

Cheers.
