Youtube App on iPhone and iPad runs very slow. Video buffers a lot. My broadband connection is very reliable 100 mbps. Same videos run very smoothly with the same resolution and on the same connection while opening them on safari . Even on my other devices YouTube runs like a butter. So definitely the issues are with the YouTube App on app store.

If you're sure your iPhone is running the latest Youtube app version (now 17.25.1, on my iPhone XR with iOS 15.5, with no appreciable differences in terms of speed when used via the app or via Safari), I'd try to contact Google Youtube support team and ask them.
