Increase default font size

How do you increase the size of the font on all applications, the desk top and area in which tabs and Safari where is located on start up? I have viewed an answer which suggests Preferences/Accessibility, under View look at Zoom to individually use Command +/_ when I need an increased font. I would like an increase to be the default size. Can you help?
