My iPhone 12 pro can access contacts and the home button doesn't work if I want to go to other apps on the menu, tried restart and it keeps doing the same thing as soon as the phone is unlocked it jumps straight to contacts

Remove any protective case and remove any screen-protective film, clean the screen, and try again.
