changing file location of song

I am trying to move songs from where itunes has placed them (under compilations) to the actual group. Every time I move the song to the group folder, click on the exclamation point in the circle to locate the file, locate the file and click on it, itunes moves the song from the group folder back into compilations. I can't simply type in a new file location in song info. How do I change the file location? Thanks for the help.

First rule of iTunes for Windows is don't move files by hand once they've been linked to the library. If you think an album is in the compilations folder when it shouldn't be select the tracks of the album, press ctrl+i to get song info, then untick the part of a compilation checkbox. If iTunes is set to keep the media folder organized the tracks should move into folders based on the album artist, or artist if album artist is blank.

If you really want full manual control over the layout of your tracks turn off the Keep Organized option and set them out the way you want them before adding to the library, or see my script CustomRenamer.
