External CD adapter not ejecting CD

Hello. I put in a blank CD into my disc adapter to burn music onto my CD (a blank one). I cancelled the burning during the process. Now it won't come out of the adapter. My MacBook Air's eject button will not work. I've tried command E, reseting/shutting down, logging out, unplugging the adapter but all that happens is the CD spinning then stopping over and over. Any ideas as to how to remove the CD?

If using Apple Super Drive then Restart and click trackpad at the same time to eject. If using another tray drive use a paper clip inserted in the hole at front of drive
