Reimage Repair pop-up ads with Safari

Since some time I'm getting an annoying pop-up add with Safari advertising Reimage Cleaner software. Even when I'm not actively using safari, safari will open and the pop-up will come up. In fact I can even close safari completely anymore or remove it from the Dock. I just updated my mac to macOS Big Sur v.11.6.7 and safari to v.15.5 with the hope that it will solve the problem, but it didn't.

I already clean the browsing history and cache, but it didn't help either.

I will greatly appreciate a hint.

First, read About pop-up ads and windows in Safari - Apple Support.

You may have already performed most if not all those actions, so if they continue to persist, please read Removing "Search Marquis" / "Search Baron" / etc on your own - Apple Community.
