Touch ID very hard to use ipad air m1

I recently bought an ipad air 5. Before I had an ipad 7. But I really liked pressing the home button to unlock with touch id. Now, it would turn off the ipad. Is there any way to not turn off while scanning touch id

Your iPad Air5 does not feature a physical Home Button at all. As such, the TouchID sensor has been moved - and is now incorporated within the Top Sleep/Wake button that performs a different function from that of the Home Button found on your previous iPad.

For your iPad Air, you simple gently rest your finger against the sensor for TouchID to operate.
