This is the problem I'm having. I have a bunch of no longer compatible software, but each move to trash requires a password.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc impacting the  smooth operation, however a  reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode

There is no way to remove that.

If these are affecting all users, then you expect an admin psswd would be required...(?)

are there other associated issues with your psswd requirements?

If you have Touch ID— set it up from >System Preferences>TouchID

Yes but Applications are available through /System/Applications your ~/Applications is basically a alias to the System Applications.

Use the admin psswd hardly seems an issue.

I asked a question that i hoped would be easy to answer. Is it supposed to matter about what's so difficult? It is a security feature that i have absolutely no use for.

If you somehow feel the need to know what's so difficult, I'll say that I am a 100% disable veteran who is legally blind and who has paralysis in my hands (and other parts of my body). So having to first type the Admin name and the password to remove a thousand or more apps that no longer work is an almost impossible task. Hopefully that is explanation enough for you.

But my question wasn't that. it was, is there a way to turn that off?

No.

You give no details, no examples. I can say baked macOS apps  that came on your Mac, you can not delete.

Third party applications—

Always look for an in-app uninstaller , if no official uninstaller than drag the app to the trash.

Any Application that was installed by  drag&drop to the Applications folder it should be completely removed in a similar fashion by  drag&drop  to the Trash w/ no psswd required.

If a Application Installer was used, to add to the Application folder— use the developers uninstaller. Either in app, or from About, or from Preferences or  sometimes available as separate download, or from Package Contents.

If in doubt search the developers website. This will always require a admin psswd to continue.

It's a security feature of the OS and a highly regarded one at that.

What's so difficult about entering password; its purpose is, by design, to help keep you secure.

I get it you're the only user, however, that does not prevent anybody from walking up to your Mac and undertaking a malicious prank. Not likely? Never say never when it come to people and computers.
