iTunes EQ panel seems non-functional with iTunes Music

Current iTunes (1.2.4.3) on current Monterey (12.4).

iTunes EQ appears barely- or non-functional, both in terms of using preamp to boost/reduce volume,

and also in adjusting frequency spectrum. Was this functionality nerfed?

This was working well prior to my Monterey upgrade, maybe also before the last patches,

but no longer.

Problem exists on both Lossless and standard audio files streamed from iTunes Music.

And yes, the EQ panel's "On" checkbox is checked - I even unchecked/rechecked it but no help.

Thanks for the replies, folks. This is really baffling.

Not using AirPlay, Music app direct to speakers (Klipsch THX 2.1 speakers)

via headphone jack in my 27" iMac (2019).

Loss of Preamp function is with all music genres and encoding type (Lossless vs. Standard).

Long time iTunes/Music user, so I read "Adjust the Sound Enhancer" and saw nothing new.

I did uncheck the "Sound Check" and "Crossfade" Preference boxes under "Playback"

just for grins - with no change noticed in Preamp function.

I've noticed that with some music the Music preamp feature seems to slightly help, or maybe

just wishful thinking. My phone app says the difference between the +12 db and -12 db

settings was roughly 3 db or less, not 24 db. Barely noticeable.

So apparently the Preamp feature is working well for other folks on Monterey?

The Preamp feature used to work fine for me in revs past, so something has changed

in either the software or the music enc/dec used currently.

Does Music streaming on Mac bypass the EQ functionality in some/all cases even when EQ is set "On"?

Interesting, tt2.

It seems that the EQ Preamp works well with downloaded music

(and internet radio stations like the AceRadio channels).

EQ in Music works just like it did in the past.

It appears that only streaming content from Apple Music does not

work with the EQ features, particularly the Preamp feature.

I will report this as a bug, hopefully it's not considered a "feature"

of Apple Music streams.
