web page pops up

While I'm on a website another website pops up without my prompting it. Doesn't happen all the time but it doe happen enough to cause concern.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Popup windows have legitimate uses, but most of the time they are simply annoying. To stop them, please read Block pop-ups in Safari on Mac - Apple Support.
