How would I create a link in pages document that references another document (word, pages, excel) ?

Linking to other documents is not supported in Pages.

thanks. hoping this would be supported soon. Word does have this useful feature.

Pages is no Word clone, and Apple will not change that. Use the tools that work, and in this case, that would be Word.
