When moving files in finder, they will not open in the new location.

I have a 2021 iMac (Monterey 12.4). When I use Finder to move a file from one location to another, the file will no longer open after it is moved. The only solution I have found is to restart my iMac. Any suggestions?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.4

Startup in Safe Mode and see if you still see the problem.
