Erase

Hi! I am sending my refurbished iMac back to the seller because it is too slow. How do I properly erase everything? Also, how do I back everything up or transfer it to my new Mac?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.4

Before sending it back, make a Time Machine backup so that you can migrate to the new Mac.

and > Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

Then use the following instructions to clear out the refurbished iMac before returning it.

When you buy a used Mac, please only buy from either Apple's online refurbished store or a trusted reseller such as macsales.com.

Also, if you must buy used then please only buy a Mac with at least 16GB of RAM and the highest capacity SSD you can afford.
