Ok, I definitely understand your nervousness in this situation. When photos are saved to iCloud, this means that they are not on any one device and they are being stored in the cloud on Apple’s servers so it shouldn't take up physical hard drive space on any of your devices.

If you want to be very sure that you are doing everything right, Apple Support would probably be a better choice to handle this situation.

Alternatively, you could make an appointment at your local Apple Store if you want to talk to someone face to face.
