How can I display a list of all apps installed on my iPad?

I find icons very confusing and would prefer a written list to an array of hieroglyphics.

Is there an easy way to to do this? The only ways I’ve seen are to open the Library App (how, when I can’t see it!) or a complicated series of swipes which usually does anything but what I want.

iPad, iPadOS 15

You can open the App Library, which is quite simple. Swipe all the way to the right on your iPad until you see this screen (image from this article)-

Then, click the Search Bar at the top. It will bring up a list of every app on your iPad, with a the alphabet down the side. You can jump to a specific letter by running your finger down the letters, or simply scroll through your apps.
