Apple charged me 210 dollar for gift card

The Back To School promotion gives a free $210CA gift card with the purchase of the MacBook Air. The way that Apple handles that is by billing $210CA for the gift card and then discounting the price of the MacBook Air by the same amount. The total of the two billings will be the MacBook Air price.

It is not a temporary charge. The "discount" is the gift card.

The total of the two billings is the undiscounted price of the Mac but you got both a Mac and a gift card. The gift card was free.

But this makes no sense other than being a scam.

If they charge you $210 first and then give it back in the form of a $210 discount - the sum is $0. No discount.

Hey hi, what's the update?. I was charged 140cad 2 times one on the invoice with the ipad (ipad cost + giftcard - giftcard) and again 140 cad for the giftcard

Did you get the money back?. I was charged 140cad for the gift card too on top of ipad-140cad+140cad.
