Was the charge conducted via 'Qi - wireless' charging; or
USB; or from another power supply, such as a computer?
Screen's symptom might directly be due to Charger; or Not.

Should you have an authentic Apple originated replacement/new
cable to test ~ may be helpful to further troubleshoot the matter.
Then one could also take the iPhone and cable(s) in for inspection
[genius] to see if the problem resides within the iPhone port itself.
No I’m using the lighting cable that comes with the phone. When plugged in the screen becomes unresponsive but if I take off cable it works perfectly fine
