iphone says it's charging but it isn't

iPhone 12 mini. Battery capacity 98%. Problem was with 15.x and now with 16. Connected to Apple mag safe charger, over night, phone not in use. I put it on the charger and it goes thunk ding and the green circle goes around. Battery setting screen shows it's charging as does battery icon on home page, which means the phone is connected to a live line. But the phone discharges. See screen shot below. Under normal circumstances the phone doesn't lose this much charge when not being used. Considering how much it's discharging it seems as though something is drawing power, so it isn't just idle. This doesn't happen every time, though. Help please.

I’m have the exact same issue. When trying to wirelessly charge, my iPhone 12Pro says it is charging, but the percentage doesn’t go up (and in fact goes down with time). It charges appropriately when plugged into a lightening cable.

any suggestions?

Hello Steve1000,

We would like to see how we can help you with your battery life. Can you go to Settings > Battery, then tap on Show Activity just below the graph of your battery usage? Once you've done so, can you send us a screenshot of your battery usage for the last 24 hours? It may take a few screenshots to see all this information. We'll use this to determine how your battery is being used, and what we can recommend to help with your battery performance. We want to see if you have a app using much more battery than it should be. For more information about the battery performace of your iPhone visit: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

Cheers!

Hi. Thank you for taking an interest in my problem. I don't think I have explained my problem very well. The issue isn't battery life as such, but failure to charge when on the charger. As you can see from one of the screen shots, it shows the phone is connected to the charger but not charging. At least I think that's what the little lightning icon is supposed to mean. In fact, it seems to be using a lot of battery, more than just normal if it's just sleeping. The other screen shot, taken today, shows normal operation: It remains charged while on the charger. This is a pretty bad problem. There have been times when I put it on the charger, it indicates that it's charging, but the phone is dead in the morning. This first shot shows the problem. Discharging while connected to the charger.

I am using an Apple mag safe charger. You can see battery capacity is 98%.

Thank you.

Yes, that's exactly the same. It seems to discharge even faster than if it is just sitting. The mag safe charger works fine for the Air Pods, so the problem is in the phone. Either the interface between the two magnets or internal software that manages wireless charging. Thanks for adding your voice to this. Maybe someone will take notice. It's a serious problem.
