Iphone backup ( using Imac ) on external drive

I would like to backup my iphone - when connected to my Imac Big Sur

original backup location is on my Imac internal drive

(iphone backup folder is 127 GB )

I tried to follow this article for change of backup default folder -

using Terminal

https://www.imore.com/how-move-your-iphone-or-ipad-backups-external-hard-drive

But it doesn't work ( backup is still made on the same internal drive )

Here is the screenshot of Terminal

Anything i make obviously wrong ?

External drive name :

XP_APFS

i copied backup folder - with name 00008blah -blahblah1801E

To new folder "ios_backup" residing on my XP_APFS drive

Back up iPhone - Apple Support

If you follow those instructions very carefully it will work to move future backups to the external drive. Don’t skip any steps, and if you get an error message analyze it to see what you missed. Note that you must have at least one backup to the Macintosh HD that you copy to the external drive, then delete the original. But note that this is not an Apple-supported feature, so Apple won’t help you with it.

I think I followed everything .

Still no luck - backup is done on internal drive

When removing my 132 GB backup on internal HD - DO i remove the folder

( with strange name of many letters / numbers ) or its content only ?

If i remove the whole folder and when needed reinsert it from external drive is there any risk that this backup will not be recognized ?

BTW - the previous suggestion - for archive option in backup menu ( archive / show in finder ( doesn't exist

_ i have only one backup )

I neither understand why my backup is 132 MB - As I'm pretty good at removing my images / videos -

And backup only when all images are removed from phone.
