Libre Freestyle 2 App

Hello - this is a pretty unique situation: I use Freestyle Libre2 glucose sensor. My iPhone is associated with Canada and I'm living in Aruba. The sensors I buy here are linked to the Netherlands. My Canadian-based app is incompatible with the Aruba-purchased sensors as they're country coded. I need to get the Netherlands version of the app on to my iPhone to do readings. I tried switching app stores but Apple requires that you have a credit card and address for the country you're trying to switch to (the Netherlands) which I don't have. Is there another way to get an app from another country's app store without actually switching your appleid to that country?

iPhone 13, iOS 15

So I found a way to get it... had to sign out of existing AppleID, create a new ID, log in on my iPhone with a Netherlands based address, download the app from the NL App Store and then switch back to my regular AppleID. There was no payment information required... just choose "None".

Limitation: can't get app updates without repeating the whole process.

It's definitely clunky but at least it got me what I needed.

Abbott (the app owner ) needs to re-think the design so the user can choose the country that the sensors originated from rather than supporting different app versions for different countries.

OR Apple should have exemptions for certain apps in foreign app stores for this kind of situation.

I hope this helps anybody else who's run into this very unique situation!

Hello act1966,

The information you states about Apple's requirements are correct. In order to change your Apple ID, you would need to either be in the location of the desired country, or have a payment method and address for the desired country. There isn't a way to to be able to have different apps from different countries on a device.

Take care!
