4k 60 high efficiency mode video recording lens switching is not working

Hi all,

I have an issue with my phone. The phone is not able to switch between lenses when in 4k60 high efficiency mode. For ex. when I start the recording at 1x, I am not able to go to 0.5x, only 1x-3x zoom is possible. When I start the recording with the 0.5x lens, I am only able to get a digital zoom until 1,5x.

When I start the recording with 3x lens, I am only able to zoom between 3-9x.

When I change the frame rate to 30fps, it is working as expected. Same when I change the resolution to HD.

Does anybody else has the same issue?

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! To see if your camera is working as expected when changing the zoom, let us know if you're able to adjust the zoom with one of the following options:

"Pinch the screen to zoom in and out.
For a more precise zoom on models with Dual and Triple camera systems, touch and hold 1x, then drag the slider to the left."

This will help us determine the next best steps.

Hi LeLeN1,

I was already trying that. Except the already mentioned I did also the steps you proposed and also “all settings reset”. Nothing helped. Are you able to test this function on a iPhone 13 pro model? I’m interested to see if I am the only one with this issue.

Hi JovonaP,

thank you for your reply. But I do not see any logic in you explanation and nor any documentation backing this up. I was unable to find anything related to the claim that it is expected behavior. Every other frame rate or resolution is fine for zooming in and out through multiple lenses but this? My apologies for the tone, but if there is a disclaimer somewhere with an asterisk below the line hidden, I was not able to see it and I missed it. Can you please point me to the direction where it is clearly written down?

I am attaching 3 screenshots from recording from all 3 lenses. As you can see, the zooms outside the lens in use are grayed out.
