Can you use icloud storage to back up MacBook Air or do you have to have an external drive like a USB drive?

You cannot backup a Mac to iCloud. You can sync files to iCloud from the Mac, but they are not backed up, so if you delete them from the Mac they will be deleted from iCloud.


Yes, you need an external drive to backup your Mac.
