Stop iCal being default calendar

How do I stop iCal being the default calendar that opens invites? For example, I get a calendar event from, say, an airline booking, I want it to go to my Google calendar, or Outlook, but oh no, iCal grabs it. Once it's in iCal, I can't add invitees (because it wasn't created in iCal), and I can't even forward it to the calendar I want it to be in. It's frustrating enough that I want to go back to a PC, or poke myself in the eye with a pointy stick.

Hi Utahnut,

I advice you to change the default calendar app.

To do it follow this step:

  1. Open Calendar from the Applications folder or by typing “Calendar” into Spotlight.
  2. Open Calendar’s Preferences from the “Calendar” menu in the menu bar.
  3. Click the “Default calendar app” dropdown menu.
  4. Select your preferred calendar application from the list.

Let me know if this helps you!
