A hard drive is renamed when using Screen Sharing
I use BackBlaze to back up a number of hard drives on my iMac 5K, 27-inch, 2019 running macOS Monterey 12.4.
Frequently, I'll utilize MacOS's capability of Screen Sharing (using command+K and vnc protocol) to access my two MacBook laptops and I'll be logged-in on both machines with the same iCloud user.
While working on those laptops via Screen Sharing, I will often mount one or two of my iMac-connected hard drives on the laptops to transfer files.
I've noticed that if I leave the hard drives connected that way, occasionally something will go wrong and the hard drive will be renamed (assuming it's the laptop or Screen Sharing). The rename is only adding a "1" to the name I gave the drive, for instance, I have a drive called "10TB2107" and now it's been renamed to "10TB2107 1".
This doesn't really bother me, except when it happens, BackBlaze throws a fit and says the hard drive must maintain its original name in order for the daily backup to be completed.
And here's the tricky part. I can go to delete that extra "1" that was added, and it will just stay sticky. Each time this randomly happens, it ends up taking some mysterious act of god over weeks for the name to finally stick back to what it was.
Any suggestions? Or does anyone else have this issue?
