Phone is refusing to update with downloaded iOS software

I own an iPhone 7. My operating system number is 14.8.1. I downloaded the latest iOS software to my phone. When I attempt to install the already downloaded OS, It then wants to verify the Internet connection for some stupid reason. Even though my phone clearly has an Internet connection, it is refusing to perform the install, claiming that “ no Internet connection can be confirmed… “ or some nonsense like that. So, is there anything that can be done about this?

We assume that there is adequate free space on the iPhone to support the update.

Make sure that the iPhone is connected to a good WiFi signal with Internet access.

Check to make sure that there are not already some previous or current updates on the iPhone that have not yet been installed that might be conflicting with the current update.

Settings > General > iPhone Storage

Look for previous iOS Updates

Tap on the Update, then tap Delete Update

Now go back to Settings > General > Software Update and try to update the iPhone again
