Phone icon on top of Apple Watch after call has ended

Every time I hang up from a call on my iphone, my Apple Watch still has a green phone icon at the top.

Hours could go by and I still have the green icon. When I press the icon, a screen comes up that looks like my watch is redialing the phone number of my last call, and I have to press the red button on my watch to disconnect the call. How do I get the green icon to go away after the call has ended?

I think that may have fixed it. I had my wife call my phone and there is no lingering phone icon on my watch after I hung up. Thanks very much!
