pages and numbers not working since Monterrey install

Documents I previously created in these apps won't open/crash the app. The crash notes say to get an update but there are no updates available. help! Thanks!

Ensure that you are running Monterey 12.4. Click on Pages/Numbers in the Application folder and press option+cmd+i. If you are not running version 12.0 or 12.1 of Pages or Numbers, then launch the Mac App Store, and click on Pages. Once that opens, you will see Update. Click that to get Pages v12.1. Do the same for Numbers.


Once you are done with the first paragraph, and have the current version of Monterey, Pages, and Numbers installed, press the shift-key on the first launch of Pages (or Numbers) to suppress loading its last execution state. Has normality returned?
