How long can a repair take before a replacement is sent

Hi, I’m looking to find out what is the threshold of time before a replacement laptop is issued if a repair isn’t getting back to the customer.

my repair was completed over a month ago, but apple, ups and I guess customs are having some issues and the laptop keeps getting sent back from ups to apple.

so just wondering is there a threshold where a new device is sent to the customer?

over a months seems too long to get a parcel to a customer, specially as the repair was completed over a month ago.

just wondering if anyone has had this issue before or knows the threshold.

? Wishful thinking on you part.

There is no standard, there is no threshold, there is no replacement sent.

Global supply chain/Covid issue land us in an unprecedented situation, and you bear the burden like the rest of us.

No not been told I will receive a replacement.

im just waiting for a repaired laptop ( one key needed replacing ) in the uk. Got sent to Czech, got repaired, but waiting a month since. Keeps getting picked up by ups and returned to apple in Czech. Saying apple are not supplying the correct documentation.

apples response is that even if it takes 6 months it’s not their fault and cannot discuss the issue. I just have to wait. If it’s a year it’s a year. Surely there must be some consumer rights here

We know the answer and it has been given multiple times on this thread and many others.

You have to wait; it's as simple as that.

Apple doesn't do loaners as a policy and all "repairs" are actually replacements. If you're expecting a replacement Mac to show up before you get yours, it too would be subject to the same worldwide shipping difficulties. Even if that were offered, it'd be no better shipping-wise.

I’m wondering the same thing also. I suppose I should just be glad the top case is getting replaced for free. But the status is pending shipping to repair center. Last Friday, the apple genius told me it would be sent out that day and I should have it back by Tuesday, today. Ha. I checked my work authorization and it says ship date as yesterday, July 18th. That’s reasonable since it was dropped off Friday at 2 pm. Wondering if UPS or FedEx does pickups daily? Probably not in this day of inflation. I’m thinking it’s reasonable to wait until Thursday the 21st before I call the local store and ask questions, fully expecting the run around simply because nobody knows the answer to these questions. 😕

Search online. People are moaning everywhere about shipping issues and repairs issues. It doesn’t seem to be exclusively an Apple Repair issue. Just make sure you have Apple Care and a back up. I’m using my iPad but I cannot do much genealogy on it. The generic apps are not as rich as my Family Tree Maker software is. Next time I buy a Mac, I think I’ll keep my old one for a backup.

I do understand what you are saying. I did call Apple Care and someone called the Shadyside store. I’ve been told that my Mac reached the repair center today and would be worked on soon. Possibly back to me in a couple weeks. I’ll hold off any more whining for two weeks and I will post back when I have received it so others know of my experience. That little text update to me is not being done by Apple. Go figure.

I understand it's frustrating when you need something fixed and returned. One of my best friends has a 2021 Mercedes Benz E450 AMG Cabriolet. It's been at the dealership for 4 months now waiting for a new gas tank to come from Germany. And there's no timetable for when that may happen. Supply chain issues are effective just about every sector in our world these days and all anyone can do is be patient.

We all know this. So far xfinity has sent me two broken cameras because the new cameras are sold out. My son has been waiting three months for a Jeep Wrangler he ordered. Another son waited a year for a storage shed he ordered. Manufacturers cannot get supplies for prescription drugs. I’ve been waiting two months for a shot in my spine because the hospital can’t get parts for the CT scanner. I can go on.
