iPhone picking up and playing somebody else's music

My iPhone will randomly synch to my co-worker's iPhone/ Bluetooth speaker while he is playing music?

He will connect his phone to the speaker, begin playing music and, at random, whatever he is playing will show up on my phone as if my phone is playing music and is connected to the speaker. This has happened with another co-worker's music and speaker in the office. This has happened to multiple people in the office.

I have NEVER connected to either of the Bluetooth speakers, and neither shows up on my "Bluetooth" list. We have never synched phones.

We are not on the same Apple ID.

All iPhones are 11 or newer.

Something is definitely happening with AirPlay, but in all my searching/ modifying, I have not come across a solution or why this is evening happening.

I have included images to show what it looks like when they 'synch' up. The ___ Station, the Holiday Station, and the Radiohead 'currently playing' are NOT mine, I have never played them, and they are not in my library.

Hello Vuotts,

The unexpected music is playing through AirPlay to a HomePod on your network.

Are you part of the same Home as your co-workers? If so, then it's expected behavior for the music to sync to the other devices that's part of the home, and you're welcome to leave the home group. See how to leave the home here:

"Leave a home you were invited to share

  1. Tap or click Home , then select Home Settings. If you're a member of multiple homes, choose the home that you want to leave, then select Home Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap or click Leave Home.
  3. Tap or click Leave."

Kind regards.
