Apple ID sign-in verification error

Why am I unable to successfully sign in to my Apple ID account? I am using the correct Apple ID username and password, and have tried to login using two Wifi accounts and without wifi - just using data. The password IS correct - I've changed it to ensure this wasn't the problem - AND I have successfully logged into the Apple Support community using the same credentials.


Every time I try to login, the phone returns the message "Verification Failed; An unknown error occurred."

The password IS correct - I've changed it to ensure this wasn't the problem

Some things you can try. Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.


Try a restart.


Restart your iPhone   *


Restart your iPad.   *


Try a forced restart. See the section towards the end of the article.


Reset Device. -


If necessary


Hard reset.     -


Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from the backup.


Restore to Factory setting.      *


Restore - If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.   *


Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.     *
