Authentication in Numbers app

I get a message that says “unable to open.please authenticate” when trying to open a file in Numbers app. I don’t know how to access the file since I don’t know how to “authenticate” this information. Any suggestions?

A question: are you trying to open a password-protected file?

If so, tap on the file and authenticate your identity.
