Apple AirPods: Could this be a viable alternative to classic hearing aids? My mother doesn’t have really bad hearing, but needs assistance. She wears specs as well, and really struggles to find an aid that’s comfortable.

"Really bad hearing" is sometimes assisted with AirPods when all your mom needs is amplification of sound. AirPods are definitely cheaper than good hearing aids. I am assuming that your mom has an audiologist and has tried multiple models of hearing aids. I only found comfort with custom ear molds. My hearing is marginal without aids. I tried AirPods but since my hearing drops off at the higher frequencies the AirPods sounded very dull. AirPods could be a"viable alternative" and it could not hurt to try them.
Thanks, buddy. Being elderly she finds everything uncomfortable. Her skin is paper-thin and very sensitive, including her ears. She has recently got some that were custom molded to fit her ears perfectly, and she complains they're too big, and rub her ears! In contrast, the AirPods are soft and super comfortable. We tried watching a movie tonight with my iPhone, and it worked pretty well, and she never said they were sore once. Problem is she doesn't have an iPhone, and her iPad is ancient. I'll keep looking though. :o)
