how to move photos from 32 bit to 64 bit

How do I get my old "iPhotos" out of v 9.6.1 (1.7GB of photos, etc.) and move them to "Photos" v 7.0, AND verify all my old photos, videos, etc. are in v 7.0? Obviously I cannot open 9.6.1 to copy and move the iPhotos to Photos. Thank you.

iPhoto was discontinued 7 years ago. It is no longer developed or sold. It was replaced by the more powerful (and free) Photos.app that comes with the OS. You can migrate to that app very simply:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point at your iPhoto Library. It will do the rest.

If you prefer not to use Photos there are several 3rd party apps that you can use. Which to choose depends on the kind of photographer you are and your budget.

OMG! Thank you Niel! It appears all 295+Gb transferred via this technique, as well as other photos and videos I found scattered in other folders. I truly appreciate everyone's help!!!

Notes for future users: After the main transfer, it appeared that all my current photos in the library were GONE, but I believe that was just a screen within Photos that narrowed down the confusion of the import. Once I closed and reopened Photos, all of my old Albums were there! Appeared touch and go, I was so scared my current photos were overwritten, but all is consolidated.
