Screen lifting

Why is the screen of my iPad5 lifting? Is it from the battery, humidity, how old it is, all of the above?

going to an apple store isn’t an option since I’m on an island.

As illustrated in your photo, your iPad battery has failed - leading to the battery swelling. You would be well advised to cease using your iPad.

Charging your iPad in this condition is hazardous; in some circumstances, you risk causing a battery fire.
