Undeliverable email messages

When I send an undeliverable email from my icoud.com email account, I do not receive any notification that the message was not delivered. I know that it wasn't delivered because when I use my gmail account, I do get an undeliverable message. Why doesn't icloud tell me that my message could not be delivered. Is there a setting that turns these alerts on and off?

Thank you. To be clear about my problem, I am not receiving notifications from the server when my message is not delivered. The article you mentioned, says this: "If an “unknown address” or “undelivered mail returned” message appears in your Inbox after you send a message..." I do not receive any such messages from the iCloud server even when I know for a fact that the message was not delivered. I am using the Mac mail client for 2 email accounts. iCloud and gmail. I DO receive the "undelivered mail returned messages when I use the gmail account, but not for iCloud. I presume there is a server setting or an account setting that is blocking the delivery of these messages. Otherwise, my iCloud email is working perfectly.

There is not settings in mail preferences that indicates to set up notifications , however if mail is bounced it will return to your inbox in mail application or web iCloud account .

Notifications do appear when mail arrives in Mac system preferences > notifications , if you set notifications to none it will not be received Change Notifications preferences on Mac - Apple Support
