Does location services on MacBook drain battery?

Hi all,

Since the day I bought this device I've hardly turned on the Location Services. But recently a friend of mine had advised me to always keep it on to ensure more safety so that I could find it. I'm afraid it might drain my battery faster than usual, and I'm not sure of the fact.

Kindly help.

Thanks and Regards ,

Everything that runs "drains" the battery to some degree; some more than others. That's what the battery is for, to supply power.. i.e. to be "drained" as it is used. The more things you have running, the greater the drain on the battery, but that's just normal usage and is expected.

There are always tradeoffs when it come to using batteries: you need to run processes but the more you run the shorter the run time.

Your friend is correct; turn it on for loss and theft security. The amount of marginal drain imposed by this process is minute and well worth it. Why I bet you won't even notice it.

All is fine.

There is no expectation for result to happen. As for Battery Draining, refer to following...
