MacBook startup problem?

Starting IUK my MacBook this morning ended up with a failure and the result, a message saying the failure was identified and shows a flashing folder with a question mark and a web page address for “support.Apple.com/Mac/startup”. Explored the web page, disk utility etc but no joy! Any possible way to get this MacBook alive again?
