White keys on MacBook Pro keyboards

We have multiple 2019-2020 MBP keyboards where the home keys have smudged to white and are no longer readable.

This has never happened on other keyboards. Rather than replacing as defective, Apple says we have to pay for a complete new keyboard.

Has anyone else experienced this white key problem?

Yep, there was post here couple of days ago about the letters fading.

Apple's position has always been to replace not repair.

They will replace if out of warranty for a fee.

Will Apple replace if out of warranty? Have never seen other keyboards do this.
